What sort of building do you think this is?

My first thought is a school, because the details of the photo jive with my memories of school. That kinda brick, the netting around the tree, the worn spots in the grass… although I find that schools up here look WAY MORE industrial than where I grew up — for example, my high school campus looks like this: http://www.heimdallr.org/main/gallery/photos/unitedstates/woodstock_academy/woodstock_academy_02.jpg.
But then when I consider that word, “industrial”, I look again at the top part of the building itself, with the funky glass panes and narrow windows, and settle on it being some sort of manufactory. I’m pretty sure no school looks like that (and if it does, it shouldn’t.)
I am thinking a high school as well. Probably the side of the gym (by the high windows). Also the alarm and the loud speaker on the wall.
Wow, Chantal, I didn’t even notice those till you pointed them out! I was thinking school as well, probably middle or high school, although again my second choice would have been factory (although it would be pretty nice for a factory!)
Like the others, the particular type of brick and windows, the fact that there are trampled patches in the grass… even the newly planted tree says “school” to me – I don’t know why but it always seems that schools are planting new trees. At least in the places I have lived.
I was first going to say school, but then I thought the glass bricks didn’t fit, (edited) so I’m going to go with school again 🙂
prison. high narrow windows. alarm bell. no exits. no thought to aesthetics.
